South Korean quantum computing firm NORMA (whose investors include Vertex Ventures) has signed an MOU with Qatari Al Fardan Ventures to build a R&D center in the UAE specializing in quantum. The UAE has shown an interest in developing quantum computing in the region. NORMA has previously worked with Saudi Arabia signing an $18m export contract in December 2024 with Saudi IT firm Light Vision IT (based in Al Jubail Industrial City) to supply quantum computers. One of NORMA's focuses is quantum resistant encryption.

Saudi Aramco Looks to Grow Refining Capacity through Stake in India's Reliance Industries
Saudi Aramco is working to acquire a $15bn stake in RIL's refining and chemicals business. There is existing "cross-trade" - Aramco sells crude to India, India sells back product, including gasoline, to Saudi Arabia. Aramco's Q2 2020 net income saw a 75% drop driven by the 33% drop in oil prices.

Saudi Aramco IPO Goes Live Raising $25.6bn
The shares were priced at 32 Saudi Riyals or 8.53 USD. The valuation is $1.7 trillion versus $2 trillion target. This makes it more valuable than Apple, valued at $1.17 trillion.

Saudi Aramco Plans Tadawul Listing
Saudi Arabian Oil Company is planning to list on Tadawul.
The TASI (Tadawul All Share Index) denominated in Saudi Riyal (where one SAR is around 27 cents) is down around 2%.
Foreign listing plans have been put on the shelf for now. Oil in Saudi Arabia is relatively cheap to extract being close to the surface.

Qatar Said to be Buying New York's Plaza Hotel for $600m
The Plaza Hotel on Fifth Avenue (Central Park South) in midtown Manhattan, which opened its doors in 1907, is currently 75% owned by Sahara India with the remainder owned by Kingdom Holdings.
It is down the road from the Ritz-Carlton Central Park.
Qatar's Katara Hospitality is said to be buying full ownership, would add an iconic American hotel to its collection. Katara's investments include 50% holding in The Savoy and an investment in The Connaught in London.
